Fabrication Laboratory

Fab Labs are open workshops with a specific set of manufacturing technologies. These mainly include computer-controlled machines (CNC), such as 3D printers, milling machines and laser cutters. Together, these technologies can produce a wide range of different objects/products. Because they are computer-controlled, they are easy to operate. In workshops in the past, young people have been able to make a product with very complex geometry at the touch of a button and without any prior knowledge. A prerequisite for the simplicity of manufacturing is that the construction plans are already available (OSH). There are over 2000 Fab Labs worldwide with exponential growth. Fab Labs are characterised by a strong collaborative character, the group of users (community).
